Khalid Amin, Managing Director, Europe
Khalid is the newest member of the TAG Strategic team and joins us from music industry event London Calling. As part of the senior management team there, he played a key role in making London Calling the fastest growing B2B event of its type anywhere in the world. London Calling was part of a recent $28 million acquisition of Ithaca Business Media by CMPi, publishers of Music Week.
Within two years of joining as head of new business, the London Calling exhibition grew its revenues, attendance and client base significantly in 2006 and 2007, attracting over 3500 music, mobile and digital executives from 44 countries, making it the biggest event of its type ever seen in the UK.
Khalid spearheaded the commercial interaction with leading music and mobile companies such as Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, Sony BMG, CD Baby, Motorola, Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA), Muze, IODA, A2IM, Indian Music Industry (IMI), CIRPA, Canadian Music Week, Music From Ireland and others.
He also initiated and developed key strategic and tactical solutions which enabled the event to meet the needs of a very broad range of clients, from start up digital businesses and 'hot' indie labels to some of the world's biggest brand names. This included overseeing a major conference which brought together the largest ever gathering in the UK of international senior executives in music.
As a regular attendee to Midem, SXSW, Popkomm and Canadian Music Week, Khalid has built up a strong personal and professional network of senior executives in the music industry, giving him a first hand understanding of the strengths and opportunities of the UK and European markets.
Based in London, his role at TAG is to oversee our activities in the UK and Europe and to manage the needs and requirements of both existing and new European clients of the business.
Khalid is a Law graduate from Sussex University and has lived and worked in Cairo, London, Colombo, Dubai and Barcelona. He is married with two children, Sam and Leila, and is a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD) and the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce.
