Musicology: The era of Moodagent is upon us
Gone are the days of picking out your own musical playlist, now all you need to pick out some songs is your own mood. That’s right I am not exactly sure how this works, but the fact that a programme can pick out songs by scanning them for the way the music is put together and finding other songs that you may never have heard before, but them being on the same wavelength so to speak is interesting.
Funky new smartphone app Moodagent could revolutionise the way we listen to music. The app creates music playlists dependant on your mood. No more bubblegum pop appearing randomly on your ipod (I didn’t put it there) to make you angrier.
Moodagent’s system analyses each track and gives it a unique profile. The profiles are then matched up with each other to create your perfect playlist. All you have to do to start the process is give it one song from the collection or from the 7digital library to analyse, and the compuer monkeys will do the rest. Bye bye genre’s – you are not needed anymore.
For all of you non smartphone users out there, don’t fret, a desktop version is on it’s way. Moodagent have teamed up with Winamp. The online service is free and available today to nearly 60 million unique users around the world. Winamp users can select and add it from the Add-Ons Gallery or learn more at winamp.com/online-services.
Go on, check it out, you know you want to…
